Slurs and Reclaimed Language

We are refining our approach to better protect marginalized users using reclaimed language. Our goal is to stop hate speech without silencing those reclaimed words and terms.

If you were unfairly sanctioned for using a reclaimed slur, we recommend reaching out to support or the moderator inbox. We will prioritize support tickets related to wrongful sanctions of marginalized users. We operate on trust and not proof of identity.

We are also updating our word lists and creating better internal guidelines to help staff and moderators better understand context to avoid wrongful handling, e.g., self descriptions vs insults.
