Rules Update

Summary:

Anon Truthing & Anon Links

  • Anon Truthing was reopened after the Rules & Guidelines changes, but is now being fully prohibited.

  • Consent to participate does not mean consent to malicious or harmful content.

  • Anonymous truthing and anonymous messaging links are no longer allowed.

  • A new rule has been added: 5.8 Anonymous Truthing Forums and Links.

  • Anon compliments can only continue if submissions happen through goSupermodel systems (e.g. goMessages).

  • Both hosts and submitters are responsible for ensuring content follows gSm rules.

Weight Rules Changes

  • After reviewing feedback, gSm is reverting to its original stance on weight topics.

  • Weight loss and weight gain are no longer allowed discussion topics.

  • This decision prioritises harm reduction and maintaining gSm as a safe space.

  • Weight-related discussions can be contagious and pose real health risks.

  • Moderators cannot reasonably carry the responsibility without professional expertise.
  • Sharing personal experiences related to weight is still permitted.

  • This includes experiences of discrimination, medical neglect, sexualization, and gender-related body experiences.

Anon Truthing & Anon links

After our recent Rules & Guidelines changes, one of the concepts we reopened was Anon Truthing.

This decision was based on the idea that participants consented to taking part and accepted the possibility of receiving comments they might not agree with. However, recent events have made it clear that this approach was a mistake.

Consent to participate does not mean consent to receiving malicious or harmful content, and this distinction was not properly upheld, even though we attempted to enforce that all content should still comply with goSupermodel’s rules.

Moving forward, there will be no links to anon compliments or anon truths allowed on goSupermodel. And there will not be allowed to be any anonymous truthing forums. The following rule has been added to the rule page:

5.8 Anonymous Truthing Forums and Links

You are not allowed to post links to anonymous messaging services (E.g., Secret Links) or create truthing forums.

These are prohibited due to their history of resulting in users feeling shamed, mocked or targeted.

How to continue “Anon Compliments” on gSm in a way that aligns with gSm rules and guidelines:

The information from the “Anon Compliments” needs to be accessible in some ways on our platform, meaning that the submissions need to be submitted through goMessages, or other areas of our platform.

You should never share content that violates our rules in this format; this relates to both the model hosting the “Anon Thruts” and to the Model submitting the content.

Changing the weight rules

Earlier this month, we had a meeting to discuss the weight rules, following feedback from users and volunteers.

While many users appreciate a more lenient approach to weight-related topics, a lot of users have also expressed distress with the development and how they used to see gSm as their only safe space from such triggers. We wish for goSupermodel to be a safe space, and we aim for harm reduction.

We have therefore decided to revert the change of the weight loss rules to the standpoint we held in the earlier days of gSm, while also making sure there is still room for sharing personal experiences.

Banning weight loss and gain as a topic:

Our decision is to revert the change and go back to the standpoint we held in the earlier days of gSm: No talk about weight loss or weight gain.

The reason for reverting the change and returning to a rule where all weight-related discussion is prohibited is that conversations about weight loss and negative body image can be contagious. These topics do not just cause discomfort; they pose real and potentially dangerous health risks to our users.

To allow such topics, we would need solid education and guidance grounded in professional expertise, not just personal experiences or individual research. Since we do not have this in place, we do not believe it is sustainable or responsible to place that responsibility on our moderators.

Sharing personal experiences is still allowed:

Discussing personal experiences such as discrimination, harassment or otherwise societal harm targeting certain body types or weight will still be allowed.

Personal experiences can include, but are not limited to:

Speaking of medical neglect, such as a doctor not listening to the health concerns of their patient due to the patient's weight.

Sexualizing bodies: Another experience to share could also be talking about being sexualized based on your appearance and how it changed, for instance, fat bodies being more likely to be censored on social media and deemed inappropriate. Another example is certain body parts being overly sexualized.

Gendered bodies: Such as talking about weight loss/gain/redistribution of body fat/ muscle gain/your body changing as form gender affirming care, or you can speak of being misgendered due to weight gain/loss due to some perceiving you to look “too manly” or “too womanly”.
