Development Update - Sanction changes

Summary at the bottom

On December 17th, we released a news post regarding rule and guideline changes. In that post, we explained that we would make changes to our sanctioning system.

Communication Limitations (previously known as timeouts) have received the additional option of giving out a 30-day Communication Limitation. Similar to the 14-day CL, this alternative can only be given out by staff.

Account Suspension is a newly implemented feature that works similarly to a ban. However, it involves no account deletion. This function, when used, is not visible to other users, unless we, and the user who has received the suspension allows it. Account suspension comes in 3 preset durations: 7 days, 14 days and 30 days. Unlike a ban, an Account Suspension does not require reaching out to support to have it lifted; the system will automatically lift the suspension when the duration is over.

When Account Suspension is being used as a consequence for violating our community guidelines, the option to display that you are on an account suspension will typically not be availible. When you try to log in, a message will pop up explaining that you are suspended, and therefore will not be able to access goSupermodel.

Requesting Account Suspension

Until now, it has not been possible to request an Account Suspension, due to the new feature not being fully ready yet. So while it has been possible to give out Account Suspensions, it is now also possible to request one for personal reasons.

If you request an Account Suspension, you will also receive the option to display on your profile that you are voluntarily suspended. To display this on your profile, you must attempt to log in to your account while being suspended.

Please note that you will not be able to lift your suspension, so you will only be able to log in again when your suspension is over.

Account Suspension can not be given out by moderators; however, you can request an Account Suspension through the Moderator Inbox, and they will forward the request. You can also request a suspension through support.

In addition to the changes mentioned in that post, we are also working on a page for users to see their sanctions more easily.

TL;DR:

  • The sanction system has been updated.

  • Staff can now issue 30-day Communication Limitations.

  • A new Account Suspension feature has been added, which temporarily blocks access without deleting the account and automatically lifts after 7, 14, or 30 days.

  • Users can now also request an Account Suspension for personal reasons, with an optional profile notice.

  • Moderators cannot issue suspensions directly, but can forward requests.

  • A sanctions overview page is also in development.
