Transgender Day of Remembrance

November 20th is the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDoR), a day to honor the memories of transgender lives lost in acts of anti-trans violence.

On goSupermodel we strive to nurture a safe and healthy community where people feel heard and respected regardless of gender, race, or beliefs. Transgender day of Remembrance is a day to recommit our efforts in ensuring acceptance and support, and to draw attention to the discrimination, prejudice, and violence the transgender community is facing.

The founder of Transgender Day of Remembrance: Gwendolyn Ann Smith was quoted on glaad.org

“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”
