Hi goSuperModels!
We noticed there is some confusion about the goStar role and since we’re getting ready to send some messages to users we like to offer it, we figured some extra explanation couldn’t hurt.
What is a goStar?
goStars are community celebrities, these users have achieved something exceptional within the community, they contribute to the growth of goSupermodel and/or inspire others with their projects and dedication - but what does this mean? goStars are users who make gSm more fun for the rest of the community, this can be through creating external sources for more possibilities on the website, it can be that they host weekly competitions or perhaps have made a number of magazines that everyone enjoys to read. These are just a few examples, there are many ways someone can contribute to the community.
When we notice a user goes above and beyond for the community, we’d like to offer them the goStar role, as a reward and thank you for their hard work. The goStar role comes with a number of benefits, such as goMoney, VIP, being featured in our news posts and in some cases goCodes, or more.
Types of goStars
Let’s share a bit more information about the three types:
novelStar: a user hosts two days filled to the brim of amazing competitions, but after those two days the event is done and won’t be continued - that is an example of a novelStar.
coStar: every month a user creates three magazines that are really popular, they have every intention of continuing with making these magazines - because the user keeps going with their project, this is an example of the coStar. With this project, the user can “collaborate” with gSm staff to host some extra competitions in their magazine, which staff can arrange extra prizes for.
glowStar: a user has created an extra function externally that can make gSm more enjoyable for other users, with every intention to keep this live for the long run - this user does not need to collaborate with gSm staff because their project is externally, that is why this is an example of a glowStar.
These are examples of what the different types of goStars can do on site, that does not mean this is all that counts. There are many projects that could qualify a user to become a goStar.
Every goStar also has the opportunity to write a column in the Weekly Insider to talk about their project. coStar and glowStars can (if they want to!) write another newspost to share their passion with the community, additionally they get the opportunity to curate items and/or share some from the archive.
In the future there may be other fun opportunities for goStars, but these are not mandatory and only if the goStar expresses interest in doing something extra beside their own project.
Who can be a goStar?
Everyone! Anyone who contributes something exceptional to gSm can at one point be offered the role of goStar. Keep in mind that we still do background checks, while they are less strict than for volunteers, it is imperative that goStars follow the rules just like everyone else.
Is goStar not just a new version of Focus Group?
We recognise the confusion considering the Focus Group did a lot of amazing work with events, but goStars are not the same as that part of the Focus Group. goStars receive recognition for the work they have done and/or are doing and gSm staff is not involved in their projects whatsoever (except for sometimes sponsoring prizes).
goStars also do not have to sign a contract and they will not be added to our internal chats (although they will have their own club to chat with each other and staff).
How do I become a goStar?
Of course you need to have your own projects that would qualify you to become a goStar and you need to pass our background check (which we do before reaching out to anybody). Then all you can do is wait until we send you a message (which comes from Admin!) asking if you want to become a goStar.
We never suddenly make someone a goStar, you receive a message from us with information and then it is your choice if you want to be a goStar or not.
We hope that clears up some of the confusion, and are very excited to start reaching out to potential goStars!
