There is a TL;DR at the bottom of this newspost.
When we brought gSm back we only managed to bring back the items until August 2013, everything after that was lost. Luckily a couple of very kind users offered to help us restore the items. They have been working hard on collecting items that have been lost and we are beyond grateful to have an opportunity to bring back some of the iconic items that we thought were lost forever. We want to give a massive shout out and huge thank you to the users Lilac and Wonderstruck as well as everyone in the community who helped them with the project
Please find a message from Lilac to all of you below.
It is also important to mention that users are helping us recover the files but once the files are recovered we need to make sure that they are placed correctly and do reconstruction when needed. All this is done by gSm in-house design team.
The first recovered items shop drop is going live today. The last day to get the items from this shop drop is 12.9.
That being said please keep in mind that when these items are recovered we don't always have the correct and necessary info about them, so if an item was made by a JD on gSm 1.0 but it is not tagged now it is because that information was lost. So please if you notice any item that you know exact info about, reach out to support or mention it in this topic so that we can tag it properly.
Hope you will enjoy the this recovered items shop drop that is perfect for upcoming cozy season.
Have fun shopping!
From Lilac:
Hi everyone!
It’s so exciting to finally see results from the project that Wonderstruck and I have been working on for well over a year. The lost items recovery project started purely out of love, passion and nostalgia for goSupermodel. In a public topic, we somehow ended up in a discussion about all the items that gSm 1.0 had to offer, and came to learn that unfortunately, any item released from August 2013 until the eventual closing down, was not in their archive. From there was banded together in hopes of being able to find and bring back as many of these items as possible. Since then, we have found so many incredible items, sets and looks from the good old days, and we are hoping that as many items as possible will make their way back to the website.
There is no doubt that we would’ve never been able to add so many things to our finds if it wasn’t for the community. We are so incredibly heartened by the help we have received from all of you. You’ve dug through old files and old computers to find whatever images and information you might have, and what you have sent in truly is the majority of what we have been able to add to our project. Thank you so so much for all the work you’ve done, whether that be sending us images or just spreading the word, it’s been incredibly helpful to us.
While Wonderstruck and I have been leading the project, we haven’t been doing it alone. We would also like to thank everyone who’s been helping us out with our spreadsheet, to add items, to add information on items and so on. The time and effort you have put in has been incredibly appreciated by us. Thank you so much.
We would also like to thank staff, who over the course of the project have been providing us with necessary information, and ultimately are the ones who are able to bring these items back.
Naturally, this is release is only a selection of what we have found, and we are hoping that more will be released in the future. This is also still an ongoing project, so if you have anything laying around, or know of some places online that might have anything of use to us, or have any questions, please do reach out to us! We are happy to answer both via messages and in our club topics.
Again, thank you so much to everyone who has contributed in any way! Hope you enjoy the items that are being released, and we are looking forward to all future releases <3
With love and excitement,
Lilac
Co-leader of the Lost items recovery project
