Abuja adventures awaits

Welcome to Abuja

We've left La Paz in the past, packed all our wonderful memories and travelled to Nigeria, Africa, where new adventures await us here in the Capital: Abuja.

Abuja replaced Lagos as Nigeria's capital back in 1991, so while Lagos remains the largest city in Nigeria, with its scenic coastline, Abuja was purposely chosen given its central location in the country. In Abuja you'll find many ethnic communities living harmoniously together, making Abuja a veracious representation of Nigeria's cultural diversity.

Abuja is also one of the wealthiest cities in Africa, making it a city of beauty and luxury.

Lagos is considered the New York of Africa, with a blooming fashion industry, while Abuja is more of an up-and-coming fashion city. We are super excited to see the fashion Rori finds for us in this region.

Traditional clothing in Nigeria consists of colorful fabrics, such as Ankara, the radiant and pattern-filled cotton fabrics often associated with traditional African outfits. Of course, it's common to see Western-style clothing, such as jeans and t-shirts, and Nigerians have a knack for pairing these with traditional accessories, such as headwraps and beaded jewellery, showing the immense variety African fashion has to offer.

Aso-Ebi is another tradition that originated in Nigeria and has since spread to other parts of Africa. It means ‘family outfit’ and is a Nigerian tradition of matching outfits for social events. Aso-Ebi acts as a form of identification, that we are from the same community, the same family. Beyond the glamour of wearing the same fabric at an event, it shows your support for the people hosting the event, whether it's a bride and groom or a family member celebrating a special birthday.  Zander invites you to join his first Abuja competition We are one... here ends on Tuesday July 23rd, 23:59 CEST and since you now know a little bit about what Aso-Ebi is, you already have an advantage in the competition.

We hope you enjoy this week in Abuja.
