Are you ready for your own red carpet moment? Head to the shop and pick an outfit inspired by the stunning looks showcased on the Red Carpet at the MET Gala. The outfits are available for a limited time, until the end of the day on Sunday.

We wanted to acknowledge the MET Gala controversy this year, where celebrities attending have neglected to speak out about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. With this collection, we want to emphasize that we celebrate the designers behind the pieces rather than the people who wore them, as well as celebrating the work from our own amazing Junior Designer team that worked hard to get the pieces to goSupermodel.

A little background on the MET Gala

Last week, on May 6, the Met Gala took place. Every year, celebrities are invited by designers to showcase their work at this prestigious event to hopefully get recognition from the museum. Ending up in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is a very big goal for many designers, as it’s viewed as a prestigious achievement of their work.

The theme of this year, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, took inspiration from a gown dress, with the nickname Sleeping Beauty, from couturier Charles Frederick Worth created in 1887. 

It was ‘reawakened’ through a hologram, its avatar waltzing in a wall display. The original piece it is inspired on has to be laid down in a temperature controlled box to be preserved. 

The exhibition this year is shaped around three main zones - Land, Sea and Sky - that together pay a tribute to the natural world. ‘It's very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion’, museum curator Andrew Bolton stated.
