Regarding the lack of BHM

Update from the Campaign Team

First of all, we, The Campaign Team, want to acknowledge that the execution of our Black History Month campaign and the lack of communication regarding it, has been under par and has left our black community with doubts and questions, which we are deeply sorry to have caused.

In planning the Black History Month on goSupermodel, we have made some straight up mistakes that, looking back on the month, could have been prevented in the first place. Both our internal communication towards our volunteer teams and external communication to the community lacked. We, as the Campaign Team, have not been focusing enough of our time and resources on executing our plans and the feedback we have received from our volunteers and community members. We know that our lack of actions have deeply hurt our amazing community and we are taking internal communication measures to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

While we cannot change the past, we are taking active measures to enhance our communication across the teams and volunteer groups, for us to avoid important communication losses like these in the future.

Yesterday, we released the shop drop you deserved earlier in the month. Please note that this has been our mistake in communication and not that of any of our amazing volunteers. The outfits have been carefully curated with IG and FG members and designed by our super talented JDs: Maze, theAmanda, and ano. In addition to the new items, we have also brought existing hairstyles in new colors that were decided on in collaboration with the Inclusivity Group. Please always wear these items with the respect that they deserve.

We know our words are worthless without actions, so we can only hope that you see and feel the growth and strong dedication toward becoming an inclusive platform for all of you to enjoy. As we continue to learn and improve, we hope you stay along for the journey with us.

With love,

The Campaign Team
