Transgender Day of Remembrance

At goSupermodel we strive towards having a community where everyone feels heard and respected, regardless of their gender, race or beliefs. Bringing attention to minorities and talking openly about the challenges people in our community face in their lifes is a key part of this mission. Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance we ask your help to increase the understanding for transgender people and the issues the transgender community face.

Transgender Day of Remembrance was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith in memory of Rita Hester, a woman killed because of targeted anti-transgender violence, the Day has grown exponentially and is now celebrated worldwide.

The founder of Transgender Day of Remembrance: Gwendolyn Ann Smith was quoted on glaad.org

“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people — sometimes in the most brutal ways possible — it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.”

Today we are updating our shop with new inclusivity items to provide a better goSupermodel experience for our transgender users. We acknowledge that style is very individual and we plan to add more pieces on an on-going basis, making it possible for everyone to be who they want to be on goSupermodel.

Please remember to always be respectful with the usage of items when you style your model, especially when it comes to inclusivity items.
