Dictionary

A label does not have to be a box, you can fit into completely, if it resonates with you, it's yours to use. Some definitions vary, but you are welcome here, no matter where you fall on the spectrums.

This page includes words, that might be nice to know. In the bottom on the page, you can find some of the many labels.

There are different kinds of attraction, and even more than just the ones listed here:

- Romantic attraction: Desire to be in a romantic relationship with the person(s)

- Sxual attraction: Desire to have sxual contact with someone

- Sensual attraction: Desire to have physical contact with a particular person, like kissing or cuddling, without it leading it sx.

- Aesthetic attraction: Attraction to the way someone looks.

- Platonic attraction: A interest or desire for a friendship or close connection with a particular person.

- Alterous attraction: A desire for emotional closeness that is not nessesarily platonic and/or romatic.

Squish: Aromantic version of a crush --> You have a desire for a strong platonic connection with someone. Very emotionally intimate. A very deep platonic connection.

Aspec, arospec, aspec: All refer to being on the spectrums under the asxuality and aromantic umbrella. The last one is umbrella for both.

Allosxual: Someone who is not on the asxual spectrum.

Queer platonic relationship: A comitted relationship with another person, that is not sxual in nature, nor romantic.

Amatonormativity: Widespread assumption in society that assumes that everyone is better off being in an exclusive, romatic, long-term coupled relationship, and that everyone must be seeking to be in one. AKA All these people being opsessed with dating and marriage, which may make you feel strange or weird and wrong. It ALSO means that society view other kinds of relationships as of less worth than romantic. (Ever wondered why 6 months of dating are celebrated, but your deep friendship with someone for 10 years is less celebrated, society wise? Amatonormativity). Term coined by Elizabeth Brake.
