The history of Roll Call
The beginning of Roll Call
Night Crew Roll call was created the 11th of april 2023 by a user named Jeca, at that point in time it was only a thread where Jeca made a list with all of the names each nights and used emojis to show how many nights a user had been present, she was in charge until the 20th of april 2023.
When Jeca no longer was able to host Roll Call a user named JessLyn took over and kept Roll Call alive for a while, she helped Roll Call survive during a couple weeks.
Delphia's era
On the 6th of may 2023 Delphia took over Roll Call from JessLyn, and she continued with having the list in a thread and putting emojis after the model names each night, but the list outgrew the character limit and Delphia decided to make a separate website to showcase the points. With the help of her husband, Travish, she created nightcrew.app and customized it so it would look good. With that Delphia assigned different emojis to different points and the list continued to grow.
Delphia also implemented some elements that still are used in Roll Call. She started with the question of the night to keep the thread active and engage the users. She also started saying "I love XXXX" each night and mentioned a model - it could be someone who had a birthday or just someone Delphia wanted to show some extra appreciation for. That feature later became "featured model" as displayed on nightcrew.app where other users could submit models - this feature has not survived without nightcrew.app but maybe we might do something about it later. Delphia also started gifting the first model to comment every night which led to engagement being high at the start of the night. Delphia was in charge of roll call until the 14th of June 2024 when she quit the site.
In the beginning of roll call it only lasted between 02:00 and 05:00, but when engagement became less during fall the time was changed to 01:30 - 05.00 so more users would be able to participate and get their roll call points, and that time is still standing.
Roll Call 2.0
After Delphias time Tyskie and snigel took over and started Roll Call 2.0, which is what it is today, and changes had to be made. We started counting points the 18th of june so there's a tiny gap between the last of Delphias roll calls and the beginning of Roll Call 2.0 due to goSupermodel being down for one weekend. Delphia has been able to update the points automatically using her website but due to changes on goSupermodel that system did not work anymore, and hadn't worked for a few months. Tyskie and snigel had to figure out a new way to count the points which led to us resetting the points, and everyone started with an empty record with Roll Call 2.0. Which has led to the points being delayed - but now we are back on track. We have also counted the points from Delphias time that she wasn't able to submit to nightcrew.app, so you can see your own points from before the middle of June this year.
Tyskie and snigel recruited more hosts to get help and now we're a team of five people running Roll Call!
