copy-pasta for new discord users

To join the goSupermodel Discord server, go to this link: https://discord.gg/Q4dVqeBPxD

A Discord server is like a forum inhere. You don't need to be friends with the other users to chat with them. When you join a Discord server it will show up in the left bar of Discord. I recommend you do these steps:

1. Read the rules and react with the checkmark in the #rules channel. Channels are mentioned with the hashtag in Discord, as I wrote here. You can tag other users with the @ symbol.

2. Right click the server icon in the left bar and check the "Notification Settings". Are they as you want them? In the goSupermodel server, there are sent MANY messages, so maybe you don't want notifications for all of them? I actually have the whole server "muted" (no notifications at all), as I use Discord for many other things, and don't want it to disturb me, but if you only use Discord for this server, maybe you want it to be at the "Only @mentions" setting.

3. Right click the server icon and check the "Privacy Settings". Are these as you want them? I always uncheck the "Direct messages", such that people I don't know can't send me dms. This protects me from potential spam and unwanted situations, but it also prevents people in messaging me, even though they have good intentions.

4. Right click the server icon (again) and click "Edit Server Profile". You can change what your name is shown as on this specific server without changing your username everywhere. Some people like their name to be the same one as their model name inhere :)

5. Check out the #-modelnames and #-get-roles channels. Sharing your model name will give you the "goModel" role, but you can get more roles in the #-get-roles channel by reacting with the right emojis under the messages. Most of the roles are just for fun, and they are there to help you show your personality, pronouns, zodiac sign, etc. But the "Get notifications for new goCodes" role is pretty important! ;)

6. And speaking of goCodes: Right click the #-gocodes channel and make sure the notification settings is "All messages" - you don't wanna miss anything here! :)

7. Right click any channel that you don't care about and click the "Mute channel" button. This way the channel will be greyed out. Channels will normally have bold text if there are new messages in them, but this will not happen for muted channels. It's a way to remove focus from the channels you don't want to see and move the focus to those you actually need. You can also right click the server icon and click the "Hide muted channels" checkbox. This way muted channels will dissappear completely. I like this setting for big servers like the gSm one. You can always turn it off again, if you need to find a muted channel. :)
